Why we went back to the core of digital legacy
Sometimes all you want is to just…
hold someone.
see someone.
say something.
And it’s that little word ‘just’, that holds the reason we started My Heartspace in the first place.
When we tried to fit everything into one app
Two years ago, we started building. Driven by a deep desire to create something that could hold everything: videos, audio, memories, wishes, advice, photos, a digital archive of love.
We meant well. But we overlooked something important. The people using our app don’t have endless time. They often have just a moment. And they don’t want to spend that moment filling out an app. They want to spend it with their children. Their partner. Their friends. In real life. Not behind a screen. But we were still asking for their time. We were asking for their energy, when they had so little left to give.
” We were asking for time, from people who don’t have much time. That truth hit hard. ” Sabine (co-owner My Heartspace)
What we heard from people saying goodbye
We spoke with people in their final stage of life. With loved ones. With doctors. And we kept hearing the same things:
“I just don’t know where to start.”
“I don’t want to spend my last weeks inside an app.”
“I’m living now. That’s all I’ve got.”
And they were right. We were asking for time, from people who don’t have much time. That truth hit hard. But it was honest.
So we went back to the drawing board
What hasn’t changed: our intention
We started this because of our own grief. And that’s still what drives us. But we’re building differently now, less from our ideas, more from the voices of those who truly need this. You.
We’re proud of this new version. Not because it’s bigger. But because it’s more honest. More human. Closer to what really matters.

Just one message is enough. 💛
